Tolly Predictions: What to Expect From the Pac-12 (Bottom Half)

Who is at the bottom in the Pac-12? What will the order of finish be? Who is making a bowl game?

These will be my record predictions for the Pac-12. I will list every game for the predictions, but the primary takeaway should be the final record. We will also compare my predictions to the over/under win total for each team to see how the betting public feels about the Pac-12.

Predictions for the top half of the Pac-12 can be found here.

*Odds listed refer to O/U win totals taken from DraftKings at the time of writing

7th – Washington State – O/U win total: 6.5

At Colorado State – W

Wisconsin – L

Northern Colorado – W

Oregon State – W

Bye

At UCLA – L

Arizona – W

At Oregon – L

At Arizona State – W

Stanford – W

At California – L

Colorado (Friday) – W

At Washington – L

I’m actually pretty high on Washington State. The Pac-12 is just tough this year. I could easily see this squad beating UCLA or even upsetting Wisconsin, again. They are going to beat somebody above them in the odds. I have it being Oregon State, but it could easily be Oregon, UCLA, or Washington.

This team isn’t perfect though. They will have a slip-up (see the Cal game).

Record: 7-5 (5-4)

Pick: Over 6.5

8th – Cal – O/U win total: 5

At North Texas – W

Auburn – L

Idaho – W

At Washington – L

Arizona State – W

Oregon State – L

At Utah – L

Bye

USC – L

At Oregon – L

Washington State – W

At Stanford – W

At UCLA – L

Cal is clearly below the “good” teams and above the “bad” teams. Vegas odds supports this theory with their odds to win the Pac-12 title game.

The Auburn game is interesting because we get to see a mid-lower tier Pac-12 team vs a mid-lower tier SEC team. It should be useful for comparing the conferences.

Go 2-1 versus UCLA, WSU, and Auburn if you want to make a bowl, Cal.

Record: 5-7 (3-6)

Pick: Push 5 – Don’t Bet

9th – Arizona State – O/U win total: 5

Southern Utah (Thursday) – W

Oklahoma State – W

Fresno State – W

USC – L

At California – L

Colorado – W

Bye

At Washington – L

Washington State – L

At Utah – L

At UCLA – L

Oregon – L

Arizona – W

If Arizona State wants to go to a bowl, they have to be able to beat a combination of Cal, UCLA or Washington State. They are a tier above ASU, but that’s where this team wants to be. I’m also being very generous with the win over Fresno State, that’s a good MW team.

Things will be easier in the Big 12, maybe.

Record: 5-7 (2-7)

Pick: Push 5 – Don’t Bet

10th – Colorado – O/U win total: 3.5

At TCU – L

Nebraska – L

Colorado State – W

At Oregon – L

USC – L

At Arizona State – L

Stanford (Friday) – W

Bye

At UCLA – L

Oregon State (HC) – L

Arizona – W

At Washington State (Friday) – L

At Utah – L

The hype is deafening. Dion is coming.

Colorado won 1 game in 2022. And their avg loss was by over 20 points.

If this team is 20x better, they still aren’t a bowl team. Also, if they start 1-4 (or possibly 0-5) is there any chance a team full of transfers gives up on their flashy new HC? Just a thought.

Record: 3-9 (2-7)

Pick: Under 3.5

11th – Arizona – O/U win total: 5

Northern Arizona – W

At Mississippi State – L

UTEP – W

At Stanford – W

Washington – L

At USC – L

At Washington State – L

Bye

Oregon State – L

UCLA (HC) – W

At Colorado – L

Utah – L

At Arizona State – L

Arizona has experienced a bump in recruiting, but that won’t help them this year. Maybe things improve with their move to the Big 12. They are finally investing in football (as opposed to just basketball).

This isn’t my most confident pick. If they flip the Colorado and ASU games I lose this one.

Record: 4-8 (2-7)

Pick: Under 5

12th – Stanford – O/U win total: 3

At Hawaii (Friday) – W

At USC – L

Sacramento State – W

Arizona – L

Oregon – L

Bye

At Colorado – L

UCLA (HC) – L

Washington – L

At Washington State – L

At Oregon State – L

California – L

Notre Dame – L

Stanford is Bad.

The Pac-12 got raided by the B1G and the Big 12, and Stanford doesn’t have a home. It’s going to be a rough year for Stanford.

Record: 2-10 (0-9)

Pick: Under 3
