Badger Traditions – The Soul of Wisconsin Football

If the team is the heart, the fans are the soul. Without fans, what is anyone even playing for? You are a new student at Wisconsin (or you are just a new fan). What traditions do you need to know that keep Wisconsin unique and special?

Jump Around

This is the classic. Wisconsin has been known for Jump Around at the end of the 3rd quarter for over 25 years. Jump Around by House of Pain plays, and the crowd goes wild. It’s simple, yet effective and very memorable.

Arch March

The football team is dropped off by buses at Camp Randall Arch 2 hours before kickoff. Fans line the path to the stadium to cheer for the team on their way in.

Build Me Up Buttercup / Party in the USA

There will always be sing-alongs at college football games. And over time, some songs will become more popular, and others will fade. These two sing-alongs have stood the test of time at Wisconsin, and when you realize everyone is singing except you, you’ll understand they can never be taken out of the rotation.

The Wave 2.0

So a lot of fans do the wave at football games. …

The Best Traditions in College Football

What makes College Football fun, weird, and different from the NFL? Ridiculous traditions that fans don’t even know why they exist, half the time. Here are the 10 best traditions to get you excited for the 2026 season.

1 – IowaThe Hawkeye Wave

Iowa’s football stadium is located across the street from the University’s children’s hospital. After the 1st quarter ends, players and fans alike turn and wave to the kids watching from windows of the upper floors. This has to be the most wholesome tradition in all of sports.

2 – AuburnRolling Toomer’s Corner

What is the correct way to celebrate a victory in football? There are many right answers, but I think Auburn fans have a pretty good one. Toomer’s Corner is a location on campus, and after every victory, the trees on the corner get “rolled.” I guess that’s what they call TP-ing down south.

3 – WisconsinJump Around

Plenty of traditions involve the fans singing a song together, but how many actually get 80,000 to do vigorous exercise for 2 minutes? Badger fans may not know all the lyrics to Jump Around, but they do be jumping. Sometimes, so much …

Wisco Wednesday: QB Reset at Wisconsin

There are some new names and faces in Wisconsin’s QB room. Hopefully this time around they can actually score some points.

The New Quarterback(s)

The Braedyn Locke era in Madison has finally come to an end. Locke, and every other scholarship QB from last year, have left the program. Luke Fickell was disappointed that Phil Longo’s offense couldn’t function with “average quarterback play.” Well, now there is a new OC, and 4 new QBs in town. So, who did Wisconsin bring in to revamp the room?

Starter – Billy Edwards Jr. – Transfer from Maryland – 5th year Senior

2024 stats: 2,881 yards, 15 pass TDs, 9 INTs, 150 rush yards, 5 rush TDs, 4-6 record
His stats are only over 10 games. He injured his thumb very early in the week 11 matchup vs Iowa and didn’t play in week 12 vs Penn State.

Essentially, he averaged 280 pass yards, 2 TDs (pass + rush), and 1 INT per game in 2024. He was brought in to be a “high floor” QB who can manage the offense. He is not expected to carry an offense, but is instead there to contribute to a balanced attack.

Backup – Danny

B1G vs Everybody

Ranking the biggest B1G non-conference games of 2025.

12. Notre Dame at Purdue – Week 4

Purdue is the worst team in the Big Ten. This is basically a scrimmage for Notre Dame.

11. Boston College at Michigan State – Week 2

A pair of mediocre teams that have next to zero national intrigue

10. Nebraska vs Cincinnati – Week 1 (Thursday)

New Big 12 vs Old Big 12… at a neutral site in Indianapolis. Eh.

9. Minnesota at Cal – Week 3

Minnesota could be decent, and Cal could be okay. And it’s a “Pac-12 After Daek” game. I’ll tune in.

8. Illinois at Duke – Week 2

Illinois is the most popular sleeper pick in the B1G. They will have to win on the road in week 2 to deserve that level of support

7. Oklahoma State at Oregon – Week 2

This game would be a lot more interesting if OK State wasn’t god awful last year. This is the first game we get to see B1G champ Oregon play against an opponent with a pulse.

6. Utah at UCLA – Week 1

A revival of an OG Pac-12 matchup, that should be competitive, late night, week …

The Official Walk On Fan 2025 NFL Mock Draft

I am attempting to do the impossible: predict the entire 1st round of the 2025 NFL draft. Will I get most of these wrong? Absolutely. Let’s give it a shot anyway.

#1 – Tennessee Titans:

QB Cam Ward – Miami (FL)

Cam Ward is going #1 overall, there is no debate here. In last year’s QB class, he’d fall somewhere between Michael Penix Jr. and Drake Maye.

#2 – Cleveland Browns:

WR/CB Travis Hunter – Colorado

If he were just a WR, Travis would be WR1. If he were just a CB, he’d be in the top 3 and possibly the best one. Instead, he’s both and has the endurance to play over 100 snaps per game. This is the consensus best player in the draft. He walks into the building as WR1 and is likely in the 3rd down package on defense.

#3 – New York Giants:

EDGE Abdul Carter – Penn State

The best EDGE in the draft goes to the Giants. They have Russ and Jamis and can deal with QB farther down the board. This does mean they likely trade away Thibodaux before the season starts.

#4 – New England Patriots:

OT Will Campbell – LSU

Wisco Wednesday: The Mighty Ducks

It’s been 14 years since Wisconsin had a crack at #1 on their home turf. I just wish this was a different Wisconsin team going into the game.

What about Iowa?

We’re not discussing the Iowa game in depth. Everything was bad. But specifically, the O-Line, D-Line, and QB play were really really bad. I’d be shocked if both the OC and the DC were employed next year.

Moving on…

Game Preview: Oregon

#1 Oregon at Wisconsin

Where: Camp Randall Stadium

When: Saturday, 11/16 – 6:30 PM (CST)

How to Watch: NBC

Spread: Oregon -14.5

O/U: 52.5

Oregon Ducks’ Record: 10-0

Best Win: 32-31 Over #2 Ohio State

#1 in the Camp at Night:

Since 1973 the #1 team in college football has played at Camp Randall 5 times. Ohio State twice, Michigan twice, and Iowa once. Wisconsin went 2-3 in those games… not too bad.

My point is, this is not a common occurrence. The last #1 to play at Camp Randall, 2010 Ohio State, lost to an unranked Wisconsin team. JJ Watt had the game sealing sack.

There are probably a lot of apathetic fans at this point in the season. But they shouldn’t let the scarcity …

Week 10 Big Ten Picks

Last Week we went 3-5 ATS. That’s not ideal. Hopefully we can get back on track this week.

Odds were taken from Fanduel at the time of writing*

4 Ohio State (-3.5) at Penn State – 11:00 AM on FOX

Ohio State seems to be the hurdle PSU can’t seem to get over. But 3.5 is just too much. I think this is a tight game where either team wins by 3 or less.

Pick – Penn State +3.5

Minnesota (-2.5) at Illinois – 11:00 AM on FS1

Brett Bielema has made a career out of beating Minnesota. The wrong team is favored, ILL-INI pulls the upset.

Pick – Illinois +2.5 (Upset Special)

Northwestern (-1.5) at Purdue – 11:00 AM on BTN

Purdue is possibly the worst Power 4 team in FBS. NW wins comfortably.

Pick – Northwestern -1.5

1 Oregon (-14.5) at Michigan – 2:30 PM on CBS

Michigan still can’t figure out who to play at QB. Oregon is a national title contender that continues to cover week after week. I see no reason for that trend to change.

Pick – Oregon -14.5

Indiana (-7.5) at Michigan State – 2:30 PM on Peacock

Wisco Wednesday: Do or Die vs The Hawkeyes

Take me down to Iowa City, where they drink Busch Light and the offense ain’t pretty. This will be a Battle of Backup QBs for the prestigious Heartland Trophy. Avert your eyes.

Looking Back

Penn State – 28
Wisconsin – 13

Wisconsin was winning 10-7 at halftime. That feels like an eternity ago at this point.

Wisconsin has played 3 “good” football teams at this point. Penn State, USC, and Alabama. All 3 were embarrassing. Alabama smoked the Badgers. And Wisco blew halftime leads against USC and Penn State. I guess that’s a sign of progress, but blowing leads makes me think this is a coaching issue.

Wisconsin could not run the ball in the 2nd half, and that’s concerning. Is it on the OL? The play calling? Walker? Honestly, I have no idea. That’s something Longo and Fickell need to evaluate. If Wisconsin can’t run the ball, then getting even 1 more win will be difficult.

I will say that the environment in Camp Randall was amazing. The students were a bit late (blame the university, not the kids), but the crowd was loud and standing for most of the game. 9/10, please have more night games in Madison. …

Week 9 Big Ten Picks

Last Week we went 4-3 ATS and correctly called the Illinois upset of Michigan. Let’s see if we can do a bit better in week 9.

Odds were taken from Fanduel at the time of writing*

Rutgers (+14) at USC – (Friday) 10:00 PM on FOX

USC is winning close and losing close. I don’t see a scenario where they win by more than 2 scores. Don’t let me down 2 weeks in a row Rutgers.

Pick – Rutgers +14

Nebraska (+25.5) at 4 Ohio State- 11:00 AM on FOX

Ohio State is a juggernaut. Nebraska lost by 49 to Indiana last week. If Ohio State wants to, they’ll top that mark.

Pick – Ohio State -25.5

Washington (+6.5) at Indiana – 11:00 AM on BTN

Indiana’s starting QB is hurt, and I don’t care. They are more than just a QB, they are a great team. It helps that the backup is pretty good too. The Indiana wagon keeps rolling along.

Pick – Indiana -6.5

20 Illinois (+21.5) at 1 Oregon – 2:30 PM on CBS

Oregon will absolutely win this game (probably). But 21 is a lot to win by, especially against an underrated, …
