What to watch this Saturday. The ACC and SEC are in the spotlight. There’s another After Dark Game worth staying up for.
What is WOF up to this Weekend?
WOF is headed to Tuscaloosa!!
We won’t have time to catch any afternoon games because we will be on the road after the Wisconsin at Alabama game, but we’ll probably catch some of the night games. Or, if Wisconsin wins somehow, we might not be in any condition to head north on schedule.

Saturday TV Viewing Schedule
IF A BADGER FAN:
11:00 AM CST: Badgers vs Gumps
Wisconsin at 19 Alabama (-20.5) – (ABC)
Wisconsin has not been this big of an underdog since the 1996 game at #2 Ohio State. The Badgers lost that one 14-17.
Check out WOF’s preview of this game for a full breakdown of the Tussle in Tuscaloosa.
IF NOT A BADGER FAN:
11:00 AM CST: ACC Slugfest
12 Clemson at Georgia Tech (+3.5) – (ESPN)
The winner of this game will be in the fast lane to make the ACC title game. The loser will have significant ground to make up with Miami also being in the mix. I continue to believe Georgia Tech QB Haynes King is overlooked and underrated. Clemson QB Cade Klubnik started the season as a Heisman candidate. But, his performance in week 1 vs LSU was severely lacking. If he plays to his potential, Clemson will be fine. If he repeats week 1, Dabo has a real problem at signal caller.

Georgia Tech QB Haynes King
2:30 PM CST: Dawgs in Rocky Top
6 Georgia at 15 Tennessee (+3.5) – (ABC)
The SEC game of the week. Both rosters are filled with NFL players. There are questions for both teams at QB, and Georgia’s OL might not be as elite as in years past. That’s all speculation, though; the result on the field will tell us a lot about these playoff hopefuls.
3:30 PM CST: Can USF do it a 3rd time?
18 USF at 5 Miami (-17.5) – (The CW)
South Florida has proven to be the class of the G5 two weeks into 2025. Week 1, they blew out then ranked Boise State 34-7. Then last week, the Bulls took down #13 Florida in the swamp. Now they have their 3rd ranked opponent in three weeks. The difference this time: Miami has already proven they are legit contenders when they took down Notre Dame in week 1.
How has USF been so good? QB Byrum Brown is incredible. He was the entire offense last week at Florida, completing 23/36 of his passes for 263 yards and a TD. Plus, he carried the ball 17 times for 66 yards on the ground. Miami will be the best team he’s faced so far. Can he do it again?

USF QB Byrum Brown – Week 2 at Florida
6:30 PM CST: Cadets and Catholics
16 Texas A&M at 8 Notre Dame (-6.5) – (NBC)
Ranked vs Ranked. SEC mega brand in South Bend in primetime. Both teams want to win the old way: hit the other guy many times until he gives up. Run da bawl and play defense.
It may not be pretty, but it should be violent.
9:30 PM CST: Pac-12 B1G ACC After Dark
Minnesota at Cal (+2.5) – (ESPN)
Cal is in the ACC now, but that doesn’t mean they can escape the ESPN late night slot they despised as members of the Pac-12.
Everyone assumes the true freshman QB to watch is former #1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood at Michigan. Those people are wrong.
The Freshman to watch is Cal QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. 19 year olds are not supposed to be this developed at QB. Week 1 on the road at Oregon State, he was 20/30 for 234 yards, 3 TDs, and NO PICKS. Film evaluators loved his tape. I would not be shocked to see him leave Cal for a bigger program or be drafted to the NFL in a few years.
PJ Fleck and the Gophers will have their work cut out for them, but just because I love Cal’s QB, doesn’t mean I’m counting Minnesota out of this one. Minnesota won 66-0 last week, albeit vs a directional high school for the blind. RB Darius Taylor is still elite, and swiss-army knife star Koi Perich (S/WR/KR) is a top 3 Safety in the country.

Spread Picks*:
Last week was pretty good. I went 4-2, and my favorite pick continues to roll. 1 more good week and I’ll have recovered from that horrendous week 1 start.
Some of these numbers I got on Monday; I need every advantage I can get right now.
Wisconsin (+20.5) – Pick
at 19 Alabama
Alabama is overrated and Wisconsin has improved over last year. Bucky doesn’t get blown out.
12 Clemson at
Georgia Tech (+4.5) – Tolly’s Upset Pick
Clemson looks sluggish. Georgia Tech is legit and should be ranked. Tech gets the win.
4 Oregon (-27.5) – Pick
at Northwestern
Oregon dominates the same way they did last week.
USC at
Purdue (+21.5) – Pick
Purdue has looked solid to start 2025. I think they give USC some fits at home.
18 USF at (+17.5) – Pick
at 5 Miami
USF just took down Florida. They are the class of the G5 right now. They should be able to take Miami down to the wire. This spread is too big.
Western Michigan at
9 Illinois (-27.5) – Tolly’s Favorite Pick
Illinois just blew out Duke on the road. Why can’t they do the same to Western Michigan at home?
Minnesota at
Cal (+2.5) – Pick
Cal true freshman QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is legit. That, plus the travel for Minnesota, plus the late kickoff. I think it’s too much for Goldy.
How I’ve Done so far this Season:
Upset Picks must be +3 or greater to be “Upsets”
Favorite Picks: 2-0
Upset Picks: 0-2
Total Record ATS: 5-7
*These picks are to express my opinion on games from a point spread perspective. I am not advocating for you, the reader, to gamble on any of these games. Please bet responsibly.
